Juunana-Gou & Juuhachi-Gou
These were both made by me, so they're both going on this page, although Michi wore Juuhachi-Gou only. ^_^; We needed more matching costumes and although she wasn't a very big fan of Dragonball Z when I said I'd make the costume for her, who was she to refuse? As I worked on them, she got more excitied and by the time we were wearing them at Fanime '02 together, she was totally in love with herself as Juuhachi-Gou. ^_^ And I'm happy. I don't really overly like any of the pictures of us, well, of me, Michi looks good all the time, but yeah. Here. Dragonball Z cosplay, seven years after I first got into it. Hahaha.

Well, these costumes didn't turn out as terribly as I thought they would, considering how badly overdone I've seen them recently, since the 'Android Saga' was released in the US. Regardless, Michi and I decided to go ahead and cosplay them, and I made both costumes. The things I really think make the costumes are the wigs. Michi's was about $50 that I got from a local Las Vegas wig shop and cut and altered on her at Fanime. Heh. Mine I bought off eBay and should have styled more. It had a wave to it before I cut it and washing it didn't get the wave out. Oh well. I also took extreme care to make sure our costumes matched. I store bought just about everything, from Juuhachi-Gou's boots to Juunana-Gou's Converse tennis shoes (which I ordered online especially for the costume, like $35 man!). I really made sure to have his belts and gun holsters, since most Juunana-Gou cosplayers omit this part and it reallt helps the costume look like more than just pieces of the closet thrown together. I had to buy white socks and dye them green to get the colour he has, even, and we did buy contacts in ice blue, but they didn't arrive in time. The Red Ribbon Logos were pleather that I stenciled RR onto and hand stitched on. Go me! We had to modify Juuhachi-Gou's vest at the con, because it was too big on Michi, but it looked pretty good in the end. The bandanna for Juunana-Gou was reused from my Son Pan costume in um, 1996? or so. Only I actually cut it into square length (instead of a yard) and hemmed it. Hehehe. Overall, I liked how the costumes came out and we looked really cool walking around together. I hope to get more pictues of us together in these costumes with the contacts and where I don't look so . . . dumb. =D
