I got this cel back in November of 2016, but only realized I never uploaded here in September of 2017! I think the reason is two-fold: it took me a really long time to figure out which episode the cel came from, and then once I found it, I couldn't get a good screen shot and forgot about uploading it!
Anyway, this really lovely cel of Van is from ep. 4 when he enters the room that Hitomi, resting in, recovering from her damaged leg. The really interesting thing about this cel, and the reason it took me so long to find it, is that this cel is firstly: from a scene that was deleted from many US releases of the series, and secondly, because when this cel is on screen, it is almost completely blocked by the cell door. You can only just barely see Van's eyes peeking through the window in the door!
It's amazing that so much of the cel is hidden and yet they drew his entire body.
I've included two screen shots, one of the moment after the door opens so you can see how the lighting matches my cel, and one of the moment my cel is on screen with just his eyes barely visible through the window.
Overall, I really love the lighting on the cel, and I think it's pretty awesome to be able to "bring to light" this somewhat "new" artwork of Van because no one had ever seen it since it was hidden behind the door in a deleted scene!
